The Backdooring of James– Big Brother 6: Episode 22
By
Diana Kaaha

It’s Nomination and POV night. Beau and Ivette are the last intact couple in the house. April is the reigning HOH, and yes, this means that the Friendship assassins are still in power. Tonight’s turn of events do not bode well for Kaysar’s remaining team or James. Unless a miracle, surprise or secret magically infuses new personalities or some major backstabbing urges into the Friendship freaks, the Big Brother house will soon be devoid of reasons to watch as the show comes to an unsatisfactory close. So heads up Big Brother powers, its time to save the house with a pro-Kaysar surprise.

The Houseguests continue to yap on and on about who is the strongest player, who to nominate, and who to take the end. All this talk spurs Maggie and April to run into the Gold room where Janelle and Howie are platonically sharing bed space. Their mission is to backdoor James, yet again. Janelle and Howie listen as Maggie and April beg them not to let James play in the next POV Competition. This means that pawns will need to be put up, meaning that Janelle and Howie are likely to be put on the block as part of the backdooring of James. Mums the word as Maggie and April dash out of the Gold room.

It’s time to run like a group of Kindergarteners to see April’s HOH room. All her little Friendship buddies scream giddily over all her HOH goodies.

April stands alone in front of the Houseguest’s photos as she chooses who to nominate. This segues into the Nomination Ceremony, where April nominates Howie and Janelle. Keep in mind that they are supposed to just be pawns for James’s backdoor-demise. But Janelle and Howie are not new to this double-dealing game, which might be why they give each other a body-slamming hug.

At this point, the smart and snaky James deduces that he is about to be backdoored, mostly because April is less than agreeable about choosing him as her POV partner. Meanwhile, Ivette’s bond with James inspires her to petition for James’s safety. This does not sit well with Maggie and her Friendship minions.

The POV Competition ensues. James is left out of the game, and knows he’s “Done.” Tonight’s game, “Plain & Dirty,” involves fetching items out of muddy troths. Added to this game is the chance to win the gold key to the third gold box in the gold room. In the end, April wins the POV and Janelle wins the key. April’s win combined with her current HOH status make her feel like a stud. But it is Janelle’s gold key win that sets the stage to turn the Friendship group green with jealousy.

Janelle and her followers run to the Gold Room to open the gold safe with Janelle’s gold key. Inside she finds a Travelocity ticket for two to the Bahamas. The Friendship peons cannot stand Janelle’s continued streak of good luck. They add up all her Big Brother booty, starting with the Plasma TV, the PB & J pass, and now a tropical vacation.

The clueless Houseguests on the Friendship side truly believe that America is sure to vote for Ivette so she can speak to her girlfriend, especially since she is the only Houseguest who has not received anything from home. Knowing this, we move along as the Houseguests meet in the living room to find out which Houseguest won a call from home.

The phone rings. Janelle answers. Michael is on the other end. This means that America chose for Janelle to get a call from her already evicted boyfriend, Michael. Their conversation follows a mushy road. Ivette gets up, rushes into another room where she proceeds to flop face first on a bed to cry her little eyes out.

As you can imagine, Janelle getting the call over Ivette did not please the Friendship populace. Maggie runs in to comfort the forlorn Ivette. Beau and April join in the sobfest, and words are bandied about concerning Janelle and her lucky streak. With the ugly green monster filling the room, it is not a pretty sight. And America, this also begins the name calling in our direction. Ivette and her four Friendship cronies find it hard to believe that America chose Janelle to talk to someone she just met, when the other Houseguests have lonely loved ones at home. It does not help when James comes in to side with them, playing any angle he can now.

Janelle gets wind of the Friendship’s jealously and takes it upon herself to apologize to them. They tell her it’s not her fault, but the ugly green monster remains a force with an eye on the pretty Janelle who America loves more than Ivette.

The POV Ceremony ensues. April’s at the helm. Howie and Janelle do their obligatory pleas, but in the end April uses her Veto Power to take Janelle off the block. James instantly looks freaked. April must name another Houseguest to fill Janelle’s hot seat spot. She keeps to her backdooring word and names James to sit next to Howie. James gets out of his safe chair, in classic Big Brother slow motion, and plants his rear in the familiar hot seat.

This turn of events is not a happy matter. I say evict the entire lot of them, recast, toss Kaysar back in, and let’s give this Big Brother baby another shot. But if we must stick this season out with the Houseguests we’ve got, then let’s hope that the green monster rears its evil face when the Final Friendship Four realize that only two of them can win the million dollar grand prize.

Stay tuned to see if James can pull another life out of his bag of snaky cat tricks. And let’s send evil thoughts the Friendship way just to stir the pot in the right direction.
