Few Make Cut In ‘American Idol’ Auditions

NEW YORK — After two days of camping out, waiting for their chance of stardom, only 500 people out of the 10,000 eager to move on to the second round of “American Idol” tryouts actually did so.

The superstar hopefuls gathered at the Jacob Javits Convention Center on the West Side, many living out of sleeping bags to get their shot at stardom in front of a few judges. Each got less than a minute to show what they could do, or be told that they couldn’t cut it. MORE
